And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let's put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. [Romans 13: 11-12]

What to Do to Children’s School Friends Who Are a Bad Influence

test

People definitely have different personalities, different upbringing, different beliefs, and more. It can’t be helped that you will encounter others who are a bad influence, especially to your children. Of course, you want your kids to follow the right path. But, what should you do to their friends at school?

Even Christian based schools cannot get away with students who are bad influence to others. There are those who entice others to cut class or do vices. There are also those who bully others. If you think that your children’s friends are leading them away from the right path, here are suggestions on what you can do:

  • Talk to your children.

Talking to them open up opportunities to discuss the situation. Try to talk to them as early as possible. You never know what their friends have already made your children do. You might be preventing your kids from getting into too much trouble.

  • Explain why they need to stay away from their friends.

Offer a clear explanation as to why you think their friends are a bad influence and why they need to stay away from them. Focus on their behavior. For instance, let them know that if their friends are caught stealing and they hang out with them, they might also have such reputation tagged on them.

  • Check on your children’s emotions.

While attaining academic excellence in Illinois is what most parents dream for their kids, the youngsters may already be feeling the pressure. Such pressure might have led them to allow their friends to drag them towards wrong actions. Talk to your kids about what they might be feeling or going through and find out how you can help them.

  • Be the parent.

If you have to set limitations as to when, where, and how long your kids should see their friends who are a bad influence, do so. It is your responsibility to keep your offspring on the right track. Be the parent that you are supposed to be. Non profit organizations in Chicago, Illinois can suggest ways on how to set limitations for your kids the right way.

  • Help kids in tricky situations.

Some kids find it hard to cut ties immediately with their friends. In this case, you can step in to help. You can tell your kids to use you or your spouse as excuse. You might also try talking to such friends yourself if necessary.
