Ideas for healthy snacks to serve your child
Because we advocate for academic excellence in Illinois, we do acknowledge that being physically healthy can bring about good results in a child’s learning progress. When they go to school hungry, they will not be alert and focused enough to listen to their teachers or do their tasks. We support every parent’s action to provide an environment of healthy living and practice in their home.
With that, here’s a quick list of snack items that you can serve your child to nourish their body so they can also have productive learning.
- YOGURT
As a leading source of probiotics, yogurt helps improve your child’s digestive system so they will not be disturbed by stomach pains while studying. Aside from that, yogurt is also rich in calcium, which helps increase their bones’ strength. - POPCORN
Since popcorn is made from whole grain food, it’s rich in fiber that’s very helpful in ensuring better digestion. Just like yogurt, popcorn’s contribution to good digestion is helpful for a child’s better focus in studying. However, for smaller children, popcorn is not encouraged as it can be a choking hazard. - OATMEAL
Not just for breakfast, oatmeal is also ideal for snacks. It is rich in soluble fiber, which is a key factor in better digestion. As a result, the body will have more efficient ways of absorbing the nutrients in the body, so your child’s health will improve. - PEANUTS
There are different kinds of nuts, but all of these are rich in healthy fats, fiber, and antioxidants. These are nutritious elements that protect the body from illnesses and infection, which can disrupt a child’s time in school. However, some children can be allergic to nuts. You must first ensure that they don’t have these triggers. - APPLES
Whether sliced or whole, apples are rich in nutrients that improve your child’s immune system so that they will not get sick easily. When they’re physically healthy, they can pay better attention to their studies, and enhance their learning. - FRUIT SMOOTHIE
What’s interesting about a smoothie is that you can also mix in other healthy ingredients such as vegetables. You can reinforce the healthy nutrients that your child is taking when their food is prepared as creatively as a smoothie.
